Film can be an extraordinary tool for igniting debate and developing our understanding that issues and individuals are complex, nuanced things. The titles in this strand inspire empathy, provoke conversation, and encourage young people to look at the world in a slightly different way.

These include stories of economic inequality, contemporary race relations, the plight of refugees and displaced people, and the increasing role of digital technology in our everyday lives.

There is an accompanying Film Literacy Activities pack available to download which contains worksheets referred to in the Powerpoint presentation.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
