Keir Starmer's announcement on 9 October 2024 of the new Independent Film Tax Credit (IFTC) supports future opportunities in the UK screen industries for homegrown talent. At CareersFest, we heard some of the challenges around supporting young people to explore careers in the screen industries when these careers appear unreachable, maybe due to lack of connections, experiences or living outside London. Our careers offer sets out to address some of these barriers, sharing opportunities for young people to build experiences, develop skills and make connections to get a foothold in the industry, wherever in the UK you work.
To learn more about how you can educate and guide young people toward their dream careers, browse our Careers Hub for even more resources and training to enhance your careers programme, and discover more opportunities for young people. Be sure to check back again in early December for more top events and resources you can use to support screen careers conversations.
