National Careers Week (NCW) may have come to an end for 2025, but our screen careers guidance continues year-round. 

In this month's edition, we help educators and careers professionals keep the NCW momentum going with essential CPD for teachers, resources that link with the curriculum including lessons & assemblies, and broadcasts, podcasts and events providing insights and encounters with the screen industries. And it's all free, and easily downloadable. The wide range of careers in film, TV, games, animation, and VFX still requires your continued support to empower young people to take their first steps in the screen industries.

I think it has definitely helped, I knew I always wanted to do something in the media industry... scriptwriting or creating the characters and their directions, I think that is something I would like to do more of. Listening to the director and the editor and how they put their own emotions into it, and its not just something standard that they have to do, its personal.

Explore Story Builder: Unscripted TV - a free learning resource

Empower young people to channel their passion for TV with our latest free careers resource for 11-14 year olds. We've partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery to introduce Story Builder: Unscripted TV, a dynamic resource designed for Key Stage Three educators and learners. This resource explores narrative development through the lens of television while highlighting exciting industry careers.

This engaging resource empowers learners to integrate subject knowledge into creating an unscripted TV pilot episode. Drawing inspiration from game shows, chat shows and Warner Bros. Discovery documentaries, lifestyle programmes, reality, motoring and food shows, students take on various roles in the TV industry.

Through this hands-on experience, learners develop ideas, craft narratives, problem-solve, evaluate, and present their work, all while exploring the exciting world of unscripted television. Packed with story development activities, learners explore a range of roles and responsibilities in the TV industry and plan for their own show/documentary.

Our FREE Parent and Carer Guide to Careers in the Screen Industries provides valuable insights into the sector and offers practical advice on how to support and encourage their journey. We want to equip educators and parents alike about the screen careers opportunities available. Why not use this guide as part of your ongoing outreach and activities with parents and carers.

CPD Training to help you meet your targets

Our CPD training is supported by experts from the screen industries and education and careers sectors. It is designed to help you update and develop your knowledge and understanding of film, TV, games, animation and VFX.

The UK's screen industries have seen significant growth in recent years, with its stunning locations attracting productions and a range of new studios that accommodate major feature film and high-end TV productions. With an increasing number of opportunities across the UK, and roles that span the full school curriculum, there is much to discover.

Discover training and CPD opportunities to help you support young people to explore careers in the screen industries. From online courses to one-off webinars, our free training will give careers leads, careers advisers and other educators the knowledge and confidence needed to advise the next generation of talent on screen industry careers.

National Careers Guidance Shows - meet the team in London

It's not too late to book your free place at the final National Career Guidance Show (NCGS) 2025 on Tuesday 1 April in London.

We're exhibiting at the above event, so please pop by our stand and say hello. You can also join our Careers Lead, Cerys Evans, in the seminar space to hear key messages on how to support young people to navigate careers in the screen industries.

ScreenWorks

If you're working with young people in Northern Ireland, don't miss the latest ScreenWorks opportunities. Funded by the Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen and delivered by Into Film, our 3-5 day ScreenWorks work experience placements help young people aged 14-19 learn more about careers in the screen industries with first-hand experience.
