Really… what you did on your holiday? What I just watched what was done on your holiday? I didn’t mind the start of the film despite a few cringe moments but later on, it got way beyond cringe watching. Some of the language was unexpecting to see and at one point I was shocked by a word that was used in a family holiday film like this but the context that some words were used for was comedic. I liked the setting, the whereabouts boosts up the interesting part of seeing both David Tennant and Billy Connolly on screen. I wasn’t fussed about because it’s a holiday, they need to go to more places of where they are, the areas that were seen were enough. Doug loves his family but is stressed of what is going on and does the best he can to contain it when he needs to for his children. His wife Abi is on the same levels of wanting to lash out as him, when things don’t go as planned she becomes impatient but tries to keeps it under control when needed like he does. I feel sorry for the two and even for Gavin in a way, Abi and Doug want to put personal things aside for the time being and both of them and Gavin want to show that they are decent people but because of the darkening turn in this film it makes Gavin treated as more of an unhappy man when he’s probably not always grumpy. When seeing Billy Connolly as Gordie, it made me want to cry over what his character was going through, he had some funny jokes unlike the children who are not funny and they don’t seem to care about the sad events in the film. This film was good and then halfway the positive reversed because of the anger I was feeling of what the children did was so disrespectful to others members of the family and friends. It was hard to laugh at this comedy because of the children and the teary upsetting story around Gordie but I liked what I found likeable until it went downhill.
