The early history of the United States is the subject of this rousing drama. Battle-weary Benjamin Martin has put his days serving as a soldier on behalf of the British Army behind him, and is attempting to raise his brood of seven children single-handed after the death of his wife. He reluctantly allows his eldest son Gabriel to become a soldier in the Revolutionary Wars, fighting with the Continental Army against the British. When Gabriel returns home wounded, British soldiers follow and attack the Martins' home, inspiring in Benjamin the need for revenge that sees him bear arms that he thought he'd long ago abandoned.
This film has a couple of uses of mild bad language and frequent strong bloody battle action
