Synopsis

Chris is a young US soldier who has just arrived in the Vietnam War, and is torn between the influence of two sergeants: the tough Barnes and the more complex Elias. Based on director Oliver Stone's own experiences in the war, this has some of the most authentically confusing battle scenes ever shot - you get a real sense of the noise, the chaos and of how little the average soldier knows about the purpose of their missions.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
