Freddie has always known he’d want to have children one day and as he hits the age of 30, he decides to start a family. But he is facing a unique challenge as a gay, transgender man. His transition had been about finding himself, but as he embarks on the journey to carry his own baby, the challenge becomes not to lose himself. As he braces for the daunting physical experience of pregnancy, he also has to deal with societal prejudice around trans rights, gender and parenthood. Filmmaker Jeanie Finlay with BBC and The Guardian newspaper document Freddy’s physical and emotional journey from preparing to conceive right through to giving birth in this personal and affecting film.
