This Sidney Lumet film gives a makeover to the classic children's book The Wizard of Oz. Adapted from a hit Broadway musical, it stars a young Michael Jackson as the scarecrow and soul diva Diana Ross. Her Dorothy is a shy Harlem schoolteacher who finds herself transported to a nightmarish metropolis, which, with its graffiti and subway stations, seems more like New York than the Emerald City of the original.
Musical set in the 1960s about a fictional girl group and their rise to fame and fortune.
