This course is part of Teaching Literacy Through Film, a series of short learning experiences focusing on specific areas of literacy.

Discover how film can embed storytelling skills with our free course, Writing Fiction Through Film.

Designed as an introduction to creative writing using film, this short course identifies activities to energise your literacy lessons. You’ll explore how to turn your primary pupils into active story-makers, as they build their understanding of structuring narratives and imagine new stories from film stills.

Along the way, you’ll get the chance to try out the activities and share your work with your fellow educators. By signing up, you’ll also gain exclusive access to beautiful short films and full lesson resources so you can put your learning into practice straight away.

By the end of this course, you will be able to use film to:

  • Inspire imaginative writing
  • Develop understanding of story structure
  • Embed sequencing and prediction skills
  • Practice core writing techniques.
