Ages

11–16

Designed for teachers and educators of secondary-aged students, Mindfulness Through Film explores how film watching and filmmaking can be used to introduce mindfulness principles and exercises. Created in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation, these resources include a variety of film-based strategies to enable you and your learners to confidently engage with mindfulness.

The course and this series of downloadable lessons include classroom activities and supporting resources designed to promote wellbeing through film. The lessons explore strategies to help students acknowledge their thoughts and feelings and learn to respond to them productively; using stills and highlights from films to support learners in managing their mental and emotional health; and filmmaking in lessons to encourage creativity, promote personal expression and strengthen communication skills.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
