The Into Film Awards is our flagship celebration of young filmmaking talent, offering a platform for 5-19 year-olds from across the UK to express their creativity and tell the stories that matter to them, and winning an Award can be just the first step on an incredible journey into the world of film and beyond.
Every year, we are floored by the quality of the films we receive, with our Best Animation categories often being the dazzling jewels in the crown of our incredible nominees. And we want to find even more young talent in the world of animation for this year's Awards!
Do you know a talented animator? Whether it's a digital animation, an old-school piece of hand-drawn animation, or even a meticulously made stop-motion film, why not encourage them to enter this year's Into Film Awards. They could be following in the footsteps of 8-year old Benjamin, pictured above collecting his Award on stage at London's famous ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in 2024.
What makes a good animation?
The ultimate facet of a successful animation is a great story. Across all of our filmmaking categories, we try to focus on depth of storytelling and breadth of ideas over technical skills and access to high-end equipment. After all, you can create a successful animation using simple stick figures! So remember, your animation should be distinctive, but it doesn't need to be perfect - often a compelling narrative is far more important.
Never made an animation before?
We have an abundance of filmmaking resources and training opportunities specifically designed to support educators and young people to create an animated film from start to finish. With entries for this year's Awards closing at midday on Tuesday 4 March, there's still time to dive in and create something. Remember - your films don't need to be too long or complicated; often it's the simplest animations that have the biggest impact.
Why enter the Into Film Awards?
The Into Film Awards is the place to showcase young filmmaking talent from across the UK. For those that get nominated, it's a chance to spend a day amongst other likeminded young filmmakers, not to mention the film stars and industry professionals that we have along to present the awards.
It's also an opportunity for young filmmakers to have their work showcased to thousands of people via our website, social media channels, and on the day of the ceremony itself, all of which is vital help in getting their names out there and enhancing future career ambitions.
