Educators Careers Go-to Guide
Educators Careers Go-to Guide

One of our main goals at Into Film is to help educators support young people to explore careers in the screen industries. However, navigating this wide-ranging and constantly evolving field can be daunting - both for educators and young people. That's why we've created a brand new Go-to Guide for Screen Industry Careers

This handy resource is designed to support careers professionals and educators in better understanding the careers available in the screen industries, and encouraging young people to pursue these avenues into the industry. Whether you're a careers adviser, careers leader, or any other kind of educator, this guide will provide you with a wealth of information and resources to help you help young people navigate the diverse and dynamic world of screen careers.

Our Go-to Guide is your one-stop shop, filled with helpful links that will save you time and help you discover what's available. We can help you answer questions from young people, their parents/carers, or your colleagues, while also deepening your own knowledge and professional development.

To access the guide, simply visit the resource page above, log in to your Into Film Account, and hit download.

If you're new to Into Film, and don't have an account yet, don't worry - it's completely free and only takes a moment to set up. An Into Film Account will grant you access to hundreds of curriculum-linked educational resources, not to mention our CPD and training opportunities, competitions, and more.

How can this guide help me?

Perhaps the biggest hurdle in talking to young people about screen industry careers is to convey just how many varied jobs there are available, and that whatever their skillset or passion, there will be a role that suits them. Use our guide to discover the wide range of career paths available, including roles in production, direction, editing, sound design, special effects, and many, many more. Our guide directs you to comprehensive job profiles that detail the responsibilities, required skills, and typical career paths for each role, helping you link up the right young people with the right job roles to pursue.

Our guide includes links to various resources, virtual broadcasts, and podcasts featuring industry professionals. We'll point you to job profiles on ScreenSkills, and other websites with detailed career descriptions.

You can also use our guide to help you stay updated on the latest job openings, internships, and training programs in the screen industries with links to job boards, industry newsletters, and social media channels where opportunities are regularly posted.

Networking can also be crucial when pursuing a career in the screen industries, and our guide also signposts to exciting activities and opportunities with professionals

Our guide also includes resources to help you meet educational and careers benchmarks. Whether you need to align with Gatsby Benchmarks in England, CEIAG in Northern Ireland, Careers Education Standards in Scotland, or CWRE in Wales, we've got you covered. You'll also find links to help you prepare for school or college inspections by Ofsted, Estyn, ETI, or ES.
