So my Neighbour Totoro.
So this is my first time watching a Ghibli movie, it's crazy to me this is the only movie (so far) I've seen from the studio. I guess I mostly consume media from America. That's also the factor that unlike Disney or Pixar which I grew up watching, while Ghibli I did not.
Also it's not my first time watching anime related content. The Pokemon anime is the first anime I've watched and One Piece is the first manga i've read. This also not the only movie I've review from Japan because I've reviewed Godzilla Minus One before.
So without a further-a-do let's get into it:
Review:
The animation (as always) is out-standing, with the beautiful hand drawn animation, colours that pops out and
I also love the sound aspect, like when it rains, the characters didn't say a word but let the rain communicate with the audience.
Particuarlurly the acorns, the movie represent them as they where to grow for the two girls and not to mention that Hayao Miyazaki emphhasize the nature with birds tweeting and slight winds blowing. It gives a sense of whimsical advenure but unlike many Disney movies from the 90s they didn't make it over the top. Sure there's the cat bus and some strange stuff but the premise isn't too out-landish, so therefore its more comfort rather then epic scale.
The two girls dynaimic is so enduring and cute.
Let's be real, Totoro is cute (I just know him from Toy Story 3) but I do wish he gets a bit of more screen time but that's just a small nit-pick, so its fine.
Closing Thoughts:
So it's not the most deep Ghibli movie but it's a perfectly fine movie just to vibe with, particularly if it's summer or spring. Like right now and come on, this movie never gets a bad word, who hates this movie.
Leonard, put your hand down.
(Leonard puts his hand down)
Good.
So that's everything I got to say!
