So Alvin and The Chipmunks: Road-Chip.
Yes I've contradict myself, my only reason why I watch this is because its only live-action Chipmunks I haven't seen and I got to say, it's maybe the best one. Yes it has some problems but there are momments I didn't expected.
So without a further-a-do let's get over it:
Firstly the animation is quite good, I'm impressed and they nailed the Chipmunks. They have a great balance of looking cute, appealing and colourful but also making them realistic enough to blend in the human world naturally, simliar to the qualities I said in my Hop review (funny enough I done it days ago).
I also think the aspect of the Chipmunks lost revelance and nobody cares about their singing and they feared Dave's new relationship with Samantha would put them out of the woods, so they go on a road trip with Miles to put them back on the map which I think is neat, which that caught me off guard.
I also think Jason Lee's performance is better and more in line with the character and I think the movie nailed the Chipmunks personalities.
However there are problems that holds it back for me, there are some humour that falls flat, the whole Miles dad problem is forced and the director completely forgotten about that and Miles is a pretty half-baked character.
Though Agent Suggs is absolute meanace! The whole point why he wants to send them to prison is becausse he's gf rejected him because of the Chipmunks and he even makes a Here's Johnny reference. He also makes Alvin, Simon and Therodore actual terrorist in this movie with the No-Fly List is crazy, like jeez he's mentality broken.
The Chipettes gets a small role but they do serve enough for the plot. I also think the ending of Dave finally adopting the Chipmunks is kinda bitter sweet.
Final Thoughts: So overall, I was going to expect another generic summer movie and yeah it has its generic momments, some of the writing could have written better, some of the humour is getting old (fast) and I do think the movie goes on too long. But I was surprised that it has some good elements to it from being the worst. Its fine, I guess. Its a movie I probably say its borderline generic but I some what being a gulity pleasure (again). I wasn't bored of it.
So that's everything I got to say!
