Home Alone is a funny, action packed and touching Christmas movie written by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. The main character Kevin keeps arguing with his mum and wants his family to disappear. But does he know his wish may come true? Also this film shows us how special it is to have family and friends with you during Christmas time.

While Kevin is sleeping his family and him are supposed to be heading off to Paris in the morning but their alarms don’t work and it is hectic in the morning with everyone running about getting ready. While Kevin is still sleeping in the loft his family are on their way to Paris and have forgotten him. Then the two thief’s plan to rob his house at 9 o’clock but they don’t know that Kevin knows this information. The thief’s start robbing his house and Kevin sets up lots of traps that the thief’s get caught in. The thief’s finally catch Kevin but the scary neighbour batters the thief’s in the head with a shovel. Finally Kevin’s family come back to the house and they spend Christmas all together as a family.

I have a lot of positives for this movie, some being that it really makes you remember how special family is at Christmas. Like the scary next door neighbour doesn’t have anyone to spend Christmas with and Kevin meets him at the church and the neighbour says that he and his son had a fight when younger but Kevin says that they should meet each other again. So on Christmas morning when Kevin’s family is back he looks out the window and it’s the neighbour and his son with his family spending Christmas together. It really makes you sad as the music plays while the kid is hugging the scary neighbour.

Another positive for me is the character of Kevin as he has the perfect childlike voice for the role and he isn’t scared of anything really. He’s also basically like a parent as he keeps the house under control by going to the shops and buying food and washing up liquid. Finally Kevin doesn’t really seem that bothered when his family are in Paris and he isn’t at all frightened of being Home Alone all Christmas.

I really love the characters in the film like the 2 burglars as they seem like the perfect duo as they are very clumsy and thoughtless about what to do. My favourite one is the tall burglar as he is very funny and doesn’t think of the right thing to do. I also love the scary neighbours character as he’s really lonely at the start but it makes you feel sad and better at the end when he’s with his family having fun at Christmas.

In conclusion, Home Alone is still a classic Christmas movie that most people still watch every year. In my opinion I would give Home Alone a 4 stars out of 5 as I still love watching it every year and it still makes me realise how important families are at Christmas time. Also it makes you want to look out for people at Christmas who maybe don’t have a family or are lonely at Christmas.
