Disclaimer: Just to let you know I only seen the Wallace and Gromit shorts for this review and I don't know what the description of this review is referring to. Also it's the only short I've seen outside of their filmography.
So today is a little different, so I'm going to review shorts this time. Simply 1 it's less head numbing because I usually take breaks over even in school I review one per week and 2 they are just shorts, they are easy to watch.
I grew up watching these shorts and Aardman's films. Without a further-a-do let's get cracking:
1: A Grand Day Out:
So, it's the first Wallace and Gromit short, what if I told you that Gromit was originally going to be a cat but it was to hard to model so Nick Park make it into a dog. What if I also told you that Aardman at the time didn't make shorts before instead they make commercial's and their first TV show Comfort Creatures. And I if I told (I'm not done yet!) that Wallace said Wensleydale save the company because at the time it was almost going bankrupted.
For a short from 1990 it's holds up very well, it has a lot of texture and the simple idea of an man on the moon story. I also think the short perfectly introduced Wallace and Gromit to the audience. Wallace is the inventor but a bit out of control over cheese, Gromit is the silent one but the one that keeps Wallace on track. I also like the robot finding it's own passion to ski on the moon even if it rans out of coins. (Oh, what) The short is good but I think it's the less endearing of the short, I'm not saying it's bad I'm saying the others kind of over-shadow it.
I give this a 4/5 stars
2: The Wrong Trousers:
I like it even more then the previous one because this short has more going on, I also think they set things up perfectly, like when Wallace mention he's pricey bills and later got it solve by the criminal they got. Or the trousers is a useful tool but Gromit ended dumping anyways due to being used for the Penguin. Speaking of the Penguin, I like that he played the music up to keep Gromit awake up and he has a gun showing how dangerous and smart he is! The one I like the Aardman shorts is because it never wasted your time. The short has a train runaway which is a lot of fun to watch (simply I like trains) and just the most iconic out of all the shorts.
I'll try not to repeat myself again and again because the animation is amazing and give a lot of charm.
I'll give it a 5/5
3: A Close Shave :
I like this time it has a lot more camera angels and these is the longest one and again I think the shorts have good pacing. I love the montage of the washing machine, its so creative. It also have another villain which is better because Preston was reveal it was a robot the entire time. Is it so funny that Shaun the sheep in here is a minor character and he ended up getting an franchise with a TV show and two feature length movie. I like all the characters get to do something. I also think Nick Park is trying to put steaks in the show, like the characters running from big machine or the chase scene. I also love the more emotional moments here and you get to care about the characters.
I give a 5/5
4: A Matter of Loaf and Death: I find it a bit odd that the Wallace and Gromit have a similar plot from the two previous one and honestly, I think this is the weakest one, again it's not bad it's the one that it's my less favourite one you see. Jeez, Wallace have ladies that ended up breaking up with him, what an unlucky guy! But hey at least Gromit got one. I got nothing else to say.
It's a 3/5
Final thoughts: So that's it, I hope you find it interesting today from my usual movie reviews.
Here's my final ranking:
1. A Close Shave
2. The Wrong Trousers
3. A Grand Day Out
4. A Matter of Loaf and Death
