So Wolverine, it's a character that I don't think as a kid and it wasn't my favourite character but recent I had watch X-Men 97 and I thought it was fantastic and brings me to the X-Men world of comics, yeah like the movie said I ate the shrimp up! Well most of them aren't good (and I guess I'm picking favourites) but I heard dad says that Logan was fantastic and I'm like sure I'm in a superhero kick recently. After watching it, it was fantastic! Also to hype up for the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine film! Any ways without a further-a-do let's cut to the chase;
Wolverine's character: So what interest me to Wolverine? I'm not going to go on to say about his masculinity he had he's flaws, his grumpy , a bad temper and pretty muchly a D-head. But I guess that makes him stand out a little more from the other characters but even then that doesn't make him a bad person. I'm crying about how he died but what interest me to Wolverine is he's ability. Might sound cool and awesome on paper (being that his claws is a sign of fear and looks bad*$$) but in reality it's tragic! It wasn't a gift it's a tragic being that the people saw his strength and only making him a killing machine but they never take away his humanity.
I love that Wolverine deals with his human side and his animal side. We are like us at times we act like animals. Also he has the ability to be bullet-prove and age much slower than anyone else, yet again sound cool but it makes things worse. Like he said in the film everyone gets killed everywhere he goes and this is the most interesting part of the character to me.
His loneliness. Even at the start of the film he such a lonely guy he's nothing but doing the job and supporting his mates, not once he talks to anyone, that's other part he struggles to react to other people and open minds to other people and that's how you connect with a character it's not about what makes Wolverine ,Logan it's what makes Logan, Logan.
So what does this film do for Wolverine? If you watch the older X-Men films they aren't bad but man 20th Century Fox thinks Wolverine is the best character in the X-Men. Well yeah he's my favourite but I would argue that Cyclopes is the most important character in X-Men history and the lack of understanding why does X-Men works. But this film in the other claw (see what I did, I slide that in!) the film is more about Logan's and Laura's relationship and less of the action stuff.
It takes place after all the X-Men died except for Logan, Charles and that guy! That's the other aspect why I love this film so much is because what I love from the superhero genre is not about killing the villain that would be a cookie cutter move or the anti-good hero doing bad things just for the sake of it, it's that I love their character bonds and how far they come and giving Wolverine a daughter is very effective satire!
Like we does he care so much about Charles or bring his daughter to her destination so much? I think that's because it's easy to be cruel and give up but Logan he doesn't give or turn to evil but through his life has gone a lot of pain. The movie is less about the road-trip and more about, well what Charles said: "This is what life looks like. A home, people who love each other, a safe place. You should take a moment and feel it."
At the end of the film before dying he felt a moment of safe and peace, no more bad guys left; All the X-Men died and he's slowly dying in the film and you can tell which crates a sad moment even if it's predictable. After that Wolverine death what does his Legacy says? Well, what Legacy do you want in your life? For the future generations to come to the world, statues of historians are like what they remembered but it become erode and forgotten to time, the Legacy are through pass people's mind. He did save the world or defeat the villain but he dose this to the future mutants, you can't change your history but you can prevent other generations to have, he gave Laura to be a better person. Wolverine is about wisdom in your life, it's the beauty of his character arc.
Wolverine teaches us that no matter if life throws you under the bus, it's never too late to be a good person. No matter how much wrong you did there's always a way for redemption to open.
Wolverine: "Goodspeed, kids. Be good to each other."
Comparing to Wreck-it-Ralph: I want to compare the my favourite Disney film Wreck-it-Ralph for a sec because the two films are about the father and daughter or siblings dynamic which both of them are similar but different settings. Which one would I watch? I watch Logan because it goes for more matures themes, the more to say and there is a bunch of films while Wreck-It-Ralph is a one and done thing like almost every Disney film (ignore the second, cuz it's awful !*&^!).
Final thoughts: So there you have as you can tell I love this film, it feels like an ending to a story, this movie proves (along side with the Dark Knight Trilogy) shows that superhero films can take themselves seriously and tells timeless story! This might have been Marvel's best movie I've watch so far and if you standing here like an barnacle please watch it! For my money it's one of the best films out there! It also shows that Marvel can make good movies in the right claw (okay enough jokes)! So that's everything I got to say!
