When it came to Blue Sky Studios they are mostly remember making the Ice Age movies which ended up over shadowing other Blue Sky movies and forgotten about. Blue Sky has a tactic of making a one-off movie and another Ice Age sequel over another which are successful movies at the box office and popular by many audiences and that's what keeping the company alive until now. Unfortunately Robots being one of them, this movie is successful with 262 million to the 75 million budget but was giving mediocre reviews of 64% like why. But without a further-a-do lets get into it!: Animation: Not going to lie , I love the animation! This a contrast to their previous movie Ice Age which in that movie's animation looks decent but stiff at times , but here they go all out and even add building designs to it giving an mighty visual experience. The animation style is very unique because it has a balance of cartoonist and realistic style and I think its because how they utilize old backgrounds mixed with futuristic The entire Plot so skip reading if you like but I'm giving context here: The movie is about Rodney Copper Bottom as a young robot always dream to go to Big Weld Industries made by the owner Big Weld , its a place robots innovate ideas for robot technology advances for society. Over the years Rodney innovate his own invention his wonderbot design to help out which happens to be shy and ended up annoyed his father's boss. So Rodney go out and get a job at Big Weld Industries. But got reject by Phineas T Ratchet as the current leader since Big Weld retired. He declares to get rid of spare parts and wants to have expensive upgrades. Rodney befriends Robin Williams I MEAN Fender which joins a group called The Rusties who help the society to get fixed instead of getting upgrades. Rodney unattended to go to the Big Weld ball who meet Cappy one of the members of the Big Weld Industries ,whom eventually became Rodney's girl friend. He meet Big Weld (yes the best character into existent). Rodney realised that he is right , he and society fight back to shut down ,get rid of Ratchet (Getting kill his mother of course) and go into the old way or the Big Weld way by selling spare parts again. Sure you can say that "WhaTS thE POint of RoBOTS SinCE yOU CAN rePLACe hUmAns with it!" I mean like Cars movies I see the creative side of it and I think the worldbuilding is different enough from other movies like I'm sorry who likes Elemental but the world building in this movie is like our world but Elements instead (here's what I mean) oh trains on water instead of tubs for water elements as example because in that movie there is barely anything that is extinguish from our and I'm not the biggest fan of city taking place kind of movies (Elemental gets it own discussion after I review every Blue Sky and Illumination movies and then I'll talk about Pixar.) but here they take machines to being the worldbuilding like the grinder as an escalators or old toys as transport. Yeah the message is like "follow your dreams" , "corporate bad" and "fight for your right" you know hallow messages we had seen too many times now. The movie may lacks depth but it doesn't lack if it's a comedy because this movie is funny; The Funny: This is the most funniest Blue Sky movie as a comedy and that's because of their voice actors , good executed dialogue and I'm a guy whom like visual gags, yeah this is my comedy except for the fart jokes like it's never funny to me as a sensible human being. Characters: Rodney is fine: I mean he is a basic protagonist like his a everyman happy , naive and kind but there is one thing that holds him from being a bad written character and that's he is unprepared to the world which is kind of interest consisting young people leave high school and head to the city and have big changes, (just like me in the future). His character arc is that he things in your life don't go to plan or get complicated. Start off small and build up which is exactly what he does in the entire movie. Like he wants to be apart of the world but no however he got some friends and changes the world. Yeah I had nothing more to say. Fender is good written comic relief character: A lot of animated movies (At that time in the 2000's) tends to give a funny annoying side character cause Shrek is popular so we must made annoying side characters because why not. Here it doesn't feel like Fender feels out of place or just like OH WE HAVE ROBIN WILLIAMS BECAUSE HIS COOL WE ARE COOL NOW like every corporation desperately tries way too hard to attempt to be funny because famous celebrity. The Ratchet is well written villain: Well he is not the most amazing villain heck his not on power with some Pixar villains but I like Ratchet because he isn't one of those generic villains who is bad because they're being the sake of being bad no its because he hated the idea of spare parts and not to mention he has a mother who pushes him to do it if don't then he'll ended up like his father who was in chains which he got himself into chains later. He also got a fun design with a silver colour plate and a business suit. His motive of getting rid of spare parts be like: "We have Technology" SMASH COMPUTER. The side characters are fun: I don't know if it's me (being a fool) but like the side characters with their fun designs and personality. I like Big Weld because he's Big Weld (great opinion) for real I love his design and Mel Brooks giving his all of his performance! Just perfect casting! Aunt Fanny is a bizarre inclusion because.... I mean the entire joke is that she got.. a pretty big butt and a fart joke , oh. Final thoughts: So is it better then Ice Age? Well yes because Ice Age has some filler and has a generic villain I forgot so more points to Robots. Is it perfect? No of course not it has it flaws I already said that earlier. Would I recommend it? Yes I definitely recommend it! I honestly think it deserved more recognition and there is another Blue Sky movie that also should get more recognition but that's another story. So overall the movie has decent fun characters, neat designs , good comedy and the cherry on top BIG WELD!(Okay enough of me gusting over Big Weld of all characters) That's everything I got to say!
