This is definitely a film that I need to re-watch in order to truly appreciate, however, I still really liked it the first time watching and think it has a lot of potential to be very quotable! The movie itself feels like lots of short comedic bits stitched together and, for the most part, doesn't seem to have much of a discernible plot. However, the ending somehow brings everything to a conclusion that I definitely didn't expect to feel so sweet and satisfying. The one-liners and absurdist comedy are weird but great, and the way that Napoleon himself maintains a blank and mostly unbothered personality makes everything happening around him even funnier.
The cinematography is really great, and the setting revolves around just a few houses and scenes which made it feel more intimate and inviting into Napoleon's bizarre life.
Overall, I think that Napoleon Dynamite is a marmite-type film - you either love it or hate it. I can't wait to take some time to re-watch this, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to give it a go. It's totally random, but ends up being quite a heart-warming story of social outcasts and awkward teenagers simply navigating life (and some weird family business ventures).
Print this reviewQuirky black comedy about a teenager who's useless in the classroom but king of extra-curricular activities falling for his refined teacher.

Hilarious highschool comedy about a group of social outcasts who are shocked to be invited to a big end of year party - though there is a catch...
