Memento is by far one of Christopher Nolan s most confusing forms of media he has produced, however that's not to say the movie is bad and its certainly not uninteresting. The film wastes no time by right out of the gate displaying plot of this movie, and keeping the audience as confused as the protagonist Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce). It is displayed in a twisted reverse order which forces the audience to remain fully attentive thought the full duration in order to even grasp the concept of Memento, and even at that its hard to not leave the movie knowing nothing of what just happened. This is both positive and negative for the movie as it allows for the audience to feel for the protagonist and understand the confusion brought upon by the "memory loss" trope and is very emersive however as its crux it is extremely hard to follow and will require an explanation to understand the events of what has happened. The idea behind the movie is truly one of a kind and Its ideas about identity are good to think about but in practice the concept lacks in both its ability to be understood by the average viewer, and satisfaction of the story by the end. Overall, Its good to see a much more original lower budget peace by Christopher Nolan before adapting into much more block buster style films, and therefore i would recommend it as a good watch to an interested viewer however don't be surprised to leave still scratching your head, as it is confusing at best.
