Boyz N The Hood (1991)

The movie Boyz N the hood follows the life of Tre Styles and his life living in south central LA with his dad and friends. this movie is quite an emotional journey and has a very notable soundtrack. Tre moves in with his dad who is stern, smart and disciplined and lays down lots of rules on his son however Tre learns other types of rules when on the streets of South central. Tre has a group of friends which have known each over for years. One is an aspiring American football player whose half-brother (his other best friend) drifted into a life of drugs. They all generally stay out of trouble near the start of the movie however after an altercation one night with a gang this all changed for them. The movie gives people an idea on what life in South central LA with all the gang violence and drugs is like. "Doughboy" played by ice cube depicts this character who is falling into the stereotype of what you turn into from staying in the area for too long as he used drugs and alcohol throughout the movie. They all live in a neighbourhood where violence and gangs are a way of life and are tested by all the negatives around them. Tre feels tested as he has to work out his relationships around him like his father and girlfriend. The acting in this movie is incredible and the plot is hooking. This watch was an emotional roller-coaster and had a great soundtrack. I recommend this movie to anybody over the age of 15 as it is such a moving film. i feel even without the violence and bad language I would still only recommend this to people over 15 as it is quite deep and has a bigger meaning than what is proposed. The whole 90s aesthetic makes the movie even more enjoyable and shows the movie has aged well. i would rate this movie a 9/10 as the acting and plot of the movie is executed perfectly and has the ability to make anyone emotional.
