Spider-Man 2 was really ahead of it's time. The CGI specifically was amazing for 2004. It really Dr Octavious come to life as he did. Honestly, first time watching this was an experience, from Peter's character development, to the villains, and the ending. I love how the film showed Octavious' fall, and how one experience can change a man. This could be from the tentacles controlling him and his actions, to his wife's death. All of this combined really created a great villain. Sam Raimi really made Stan Lee's creations come to life in this action packed movie, and all the scenes generated a significant emotional reaction for me. From Octavious' transformation to villainy, to Peter saving the train and finally to the final moments of Doc Oc. All of it really was a masterpiece that came to life from the actor's great acting, and Raimi's amazing directing, really making a step up from the previous movie.
However, MJ is honestly a step down from the previous movie. She turned from a lovable character, to one who was breaking Peter's heart and making a dirty stain on this movie. From the start to end this character was just for filler. No character development was involved in her, and all she did was provide the movie with a stain that unfortunately ruined part of it for me.
