Peter Lord Jeff Newitt directs this amazing animation , prepare to wonder at stop motion as this films manages to create incredible action scenes.
Accompanied by his ragtag crew, an enthusiastic pirate captain (Hugh Grant) sails the high seas and dreams of besting his bitter rivals, Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz, in a quest to win the coveted title of Pirate of the Year. The captain's quest takes him and his comrades from the exotic shores of Blood Island to Victorian London's foggy streets. Along the way, they battle a clever queen and join forces with a young scientist Charles Darwin.
The bright cartoon style and time accurate music of the Victorian period used in the film give it the feeling of comedy and adventure.
The actors in this film perfectly execute the comic friendliness of the pirates and create the perfect comedic feeling I got when watching the film.
I loved this film and would recommend it to anyone who loves films like the Early man or other aardman films. It’s a timeless classic that I’m sure will live through many more generations.
