Swiss family Robinson is a Disney classic released in 1960 starring John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, James MacArthur, Kevin Corcoran, and Janet Munro.
Subsequently after a terrible storm, the Robinson family find themselves abandoned on the ruins of a boat, thankfully for them there is an island a small distance away. How will they survive the dreadful island? How did some of the animals get there? And are they even alone on the island?
If you enjoy watching adventure movies, romance movies or island survival movies Swiss family Robinson is perfect for you. I personally enjoyed it as it was very different to most films out there.
Although this movie is very good and deserves more attention, it does contain some mild problems. Swiss family Robinson is at times violent, sexist and has animal cruelty. To make this film better they could have included better animal welfare, they couldn’t use CGI back then, but if another remake ever comes along CGI can allow the same scenes to be used without distressing or hurting the animals.
Overall, it definitely is worth a watch, as it is better than most movies of its time.
