I watched a film called Inside Out.
The story is based on a girl called Riley and the emotions that lived inside her. The emotions were called Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust. Those emotions basically controlled Riley. Her core memories made up islands. The islands were called Family Island, Friend Island, Honesty Island, Hockey Island and Goofball Island. Each island represents what she does and what she is.
If this film were about me my islands would be Football Island, Harry Potter Island, Family Island, Kindness Island and Fun Island.
Riley moved to San Francisco. She didn’t like her new house because when she entered it, it was a bit grimy and dirty and there was a dead mouse. She went to her room to see it but it turned out that it wouldn’t be as big as she imagined it to be. She felt like she wanted to go back to her old house because she was on a great hockey team and she had a really big backyard.
She found life hard because she lost quite a bit of what was important to her when she left her old house. During that period the emotions in her head were trying to help. Joy tried to make Riley remember all of the happy and funny things in her life, which worked for about 10 seconds, but she failed because her sadness was too strong at the time and she could not see the point of joy.
When I feel sad I go to my room and I lay on my bed and let some of my anger out by listening to my stereo and I do some colouring.
In the end Riley realises that it is alright to be sad. She tells her mum and dad the reason why she’s feeling sad so that they can sort it out together.
It is alright to be sad but don’t let the sadness overpower you.
