I absolutely love this film, it’s by far one of my favourites. The animation is amazing and the story is one to remember. The beautiful story of a deaf girl, Shouko, being taunted by her classmate Shoya Ishida to then find him attempting to redeem himself years later brings a slight tear to my eye. My favourite character was Yuzuru, Shouko’s sibling, because she was caring, pretty cool and always made sure her sister was happy. I also liked Tomohiro, Shouko’s best friend, because he was really kind, determined and always has his friend’s back. I think the moral of this film is “life can be hard, but it’s never worth dying for”. I also liked how most of the people around Shoya were cut off from him by Xs on their faces, and when he gained their trust the Xs would fall to the ground, I found that quite interesting and helped me understand how he was coping with separating himself from everyone.
This film is amazing and I’d 100% recommend it. There are some sad parts and attempted death scenes in this movie, so please be prepared for those, but over all I really enjoyed it and I’d definitely watch it again.
