This is a very abrupt way to start my review, but this is the best Audrey Hepburn film. Ever. I really cannot imagine the film without our icon, Audrey. The songs. Exquisite. The acting. Phenomenal. The casting. Out of this world. Every little part of this film is just perfect, except of course Stanley Holloway’s, get me to church on time which me and my sister had to skip as it went on for about a quarter of an hour. But, if you are over the age of ten you will love this film ( I don’t think 9 year old children can concentrate that long.), because, sadly, it does have a run time of 3 hours. BUT IT IS SO WORTH IT! If I am honest, my favorite song is either ‘wouldn’t it be lovely’, or ‘just you wait ‘enry ‘iggins’. That song will always, strangely cheer me up. Another part of this film that I adore, has got to be, the horse race when she just can't hold it in anymore, and forgetting her posh language training, she yells in her old cockney accent, well, something rather rude to cheer her horse on. At this point, me and my sister were crying laughing. If you have a weekend off, I would definitely recommend, this film on a Sunday, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (another Hepburn movie) on the Saturday as both films are good fun.
What happens in this film:
Well, a professor, Mr Henry Higgins, who is very interested in languages and accents, makes a bet with Colonel Pickering that he could make a young flower girl, with a strong loud cockney accent, ( Eliza Doolittle,/ Audrey Hepburn) that he can make her sound, and be like a duchess in a month. But can he do it?! Well, that’s for you to find out.
