the time that this movie was made definitely shines through, as it was made fresh out of wwii and the fear of destruction was still a very real and terrifying thing the amazing costume design and practical effects [created by William travilla and Clinton sandeen] make this movie all the more interesting and fun to watch. the characters are very well rounded developed throughout the movie especially with klaatu and gort who seem timid and friendly slowly become more menacing building up to the movies end that leaves us on a cliffhanger which id say was a good move as not a lot of movies in that era would do that as they would believe that a story should end and that should be it without any need to go back and look over or even to put any more thought into it and I congratulate the movie for doing this.
