The Spiderwick Chronicles (2007)

The spiderwick chronicles is an interesting film as the fantasy is beyond a lot of other fantasy based movies. The atmosphere is set in a house with a lot of backstory to it. For instance, the main character is rummaging through the house when he discovers a hollow wall, there are footsteps heard and the boy begins to make holes in the wall, hoping to find whatever is making the unusual noise, then makes a large gash, where he finds a hidden room. The boy climbed in and found a box attached to a rope, leading to another room. Later on in the movie the boy listens to the small, harmless monster and looks through an invention designed to see the monsters outside the mushroom encased protective wall. A curse was set on the mushroom forcefield. This is because the boy opened a handbook made by the previous owner. Later that night, the monsters came and raided the house,in hope of finding the hidden secrets of the unknown kinds of the world. After battling the monsters and escaping a mere death of the boy they return to a normal, much simpler life. And to never speak of a monster or any kind of strange creature ever again.

All in all I would give this a solid 4 stars and would recommend it to all ages and I think anybody that does manage to watch it will enjoy it as much as I did, and I very much enjoyed it.
