This has to be one of my favourite films, not only for its story but simply because of the amazing techniques used (5 areas of film language). Throughout the movie the audience experiences many different atmospheres despite the film being set in the one location, the maze. I also really enjoyed the how the characters viewed the maze and it always seemed like a death trap which made it even more scary than it already was. I feel that Wes Ball did an amazing job at creating a 'safe' yet terrifying atmosphere in the centre of the maze. The visuals he created were also stunning as in some scenes he used the visuals and sounds of the maze to make the maze seem more like a living thing rather than a machine, and he was able to build suspense in certain scenes that I haven't seen in any other movies before which is why The Maze Runner has to be one of (if not) my favourite film of all time.
