Searching (2018)

Searching is a film about a Dad who tries to locate his missing daughter through her MacBook laptop as he attempts to find out what happened to her.

The whole film is told through FaceTime, Skype and the internet among others. The film is extremely good at making you feel one character has abducted her and is almost definitely the culprit to suddenly give you a new piece of information that completely shifts your view. The film doesn’t blast you with jump scares but gives you small, 5-second long notices as things like the page loads to create even more suspense. The Dad,

played by John Cho, did an amazing job creating sense of longing for a conclusion.

The film’s soundtrack was extremely dramatic at the right time in the right place. The soundtrack provides an intense atmosphere that most films do but created an aftershock as well after a major plot twist. The film did well by giving you some breathing time after a major event before getting into some more action to create a perfect balance between action and dialog.

The isn’t really much to talk about with the camera since it was told through the daughter’s Mac but from that the colour of the film was naturally grey since that is the background colour on Macs which reflected the sorrow from the dad losing his daughter.

I would highly recommend this film to anyone around my age or anyone who loves psychological thrillers.
