A bamboo farmer finds a baby that looks like a cross between a human and a doll because she is so small. Unbeknownst to her parents, she grows as quick as bamboo and as her father tells everybody the story of her 'Bamboo child' and eventualy she and all the other kids are playing together and they call her ‘little bamboo’ and she runs with her friends through the valleys and the woods across the village and exploring everywhere she goes. Later, little bamboo becomes a princess hence the name Princess Kaguya. Her parents buy her a Japanese palace and she loves it until five princes come and try to prove themselves with mythical gifts from trees and the summits of mountains. Princess Kaguya challenges them all to get them but some cheat just to see her face because she is behind a curtain. Even though her parents want her to be happy, but she doesn't want a husband so she tells her parents but they get angry and tell her to go and carry on making cotton on her machine and then starts to cry and goes outside in the mini garden. Later on, there is a bad twist that could change the fate of Princess Kaguya. How will her parents cope?
When our film club leader (Mr Denton) told us how long it took to draw, water colour and animate this movie absoloutly nobody belived him because he said it took TEN years to make! This fantasy and animation genre is perfect for the storyline. As you watch this movie you will probably love it just like me. I loved this movie so I rated it five stars out of five stars.
