Christopher Nolan does a good job in telling a magic tale in this periodic thriller set in Edwardian London. Starring Hugh Jackman as Robert Angier and Christian Bale as Alfred Borden, these two main characters are very respected magicians, whose partnership turns into a rivalry where these magicians attempt to sabotage each others tricks when Borden supposedly murders Angier's assistant on stage.
This is a great movie in the sense that it provides many enigmas which are gradually explained all the way up to the end of the film where, arguably, one of cinemas biggest plot twists is put.
The dialogue is incredible, with each of the main characters providing great speeches and explanations, in a way which almost breaks the fourth wall, especially when the movie starts with the line, narrated by Michael Caine's character; Are you watching closely? In terms of the setting, Christopher Nolan did a great job in providing an Edwardian era London, which really adds to the old fashioned atmosphere along with the costumes, props and language used, also the music; The music was brilliant as it had an orchestra providing the score which makes sense as it was set in the 1890s.
Overall, a great watch and very mind-blowing, would definitely recommend.
