This film is such a hilarious and funny movie! It shows the relationship between brothers Greg and Rodrick and how they bond together. This movie is part of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series about a pre-teen Greg Heffley who shows us how he survives his life as a middle-school kid and his siblings who are always making his life more paranoid and hectic. His older lazy teenage brother Rodrick who does nothing expect when it comes to torturing or pranking him. Manny his younger brother is a 3 year old toddler and is always damaging his belongings on purpose and never gets into trouble for it because his parents Frank and Suzy Heffley would never believe their son would do something like that. This is the second film full of more comedy and laughter introducing new characters and something completely different for Greg. This time, however their mother forces the two of them to bond. However, Rodrick, is itching to cut him down to size and he may be Greg's chief tormentor, but he feels his constant pranks are just what his little brother needs to prepare him for life's hard knocks. One of my favourite Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies full of action, comedy and drama.
My favourite scene in the film was when against their parent's wishes Rodrick throws a party and the next morning Susan called and told them that they would be home in an hour. I loved it when they worked together as a team because Greg knew he and Rodrick both lied to their parents and that they both would be dead so they hastily erased all the evidence but found out that the bathroom door is painted on with a graffiti; therefore, they replace the door, but Greg finds out that the replacement door doesn't have a lock like the last door. Rodrick convinces Greg to deny everything as their parents arrive. Susan however, later slowly began to discover the difference and questions the two brothers. Though Rodrick denies this, Greg nearly reveals the truth and convinces Susan to not to punish Rodrick. Convinced that Greg didn't reveal about the party, Rodrick starts bonding with him as a gesture of gratitude. This shows that even though they may fight and argue brothers will be friends forever and will always be there for you no matter what. Having a relationship with your brother will be one of the most important relationships of your life and you may not realise it now but as you grow older you will need each other to count on and rely on.
The scene I disliked most in the film was when one night, they are finally exposed when their father Frank Heffley comes across photos of the party and the Heffley's reputation is ruined again, and no one will support Susan's articles about siblings bonding anymore. Greg and Rodrick both get grounded, which includes Rodrick not being allowed to participate in the school talent show. Rodrick is furious with Greg for revealing the truth about the party and thought he was his true brother and friend. He loved hanging out with Greg and felt betrayed that he told Susan because he was really beginning to enjoy spending time with him and bonding with him and began to believe his mother was right a relationship with your brother is important. I didn't enjoy it when Rodrick and Greg's relationship suddenly collapsed because of the fact that they were exposed it made me feel very emotional as brothers can get through anything together. Brothers are special.
To conclude, this film was an fantastic movie full of comedy, humour and action. I loved seeing Rodrick and Greg actually bond in this film and how their relationship changed throughout the film however, in the final film Diary of a Wimpy Kid- Dog Days they are shown to have a very strong relationship together and are very close. They are my favourite characters and are what complete the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. I have a strong relationship with my brother but no matter how far the distance is between us, no matter what life throws at us the force of love keeps us together always. We will always be siblings and Greg and Rodrick will always be siblings! Sometimes in life, when you have a brother try to bond with them and understand no matter what happens they will always be there to help you, care for you and support you in everything that you do because that is what brothers do. They help and support each other no matter what. This film sends a very important message out to everyone that brothers are something special and won't be around forever spend time with them now! Brothers forever.
