Pirates Of The Caribbean Dead Mans Chest (2006)

We live in a world of sequels, remakes, and prequels. Why? Because publishers are guaranteed and audience for previous successful titles, so we gotta pray for good sequels more often than we'd like. But hey, I don't know anyone that said they didn't wanna watch Pirates Of The Caribbean 2, so that's a good sign. So I really like Dead Mans Chest, and don't get me wrong, it's my favourite POTC, but it's also my least favourite at the same time? Why the hypocritical stance on this movie? Because I'm a bit weird like that but I'll explain why. Dead Mans Chest hits all the notes that made Black Pearl great. Amazing action featuring hilarious Johnny Depp bringing Captain Jack to life, along with a hearty crew and a new villain to boot. It's excellently filmed and when I was a boy, there were many sequences that made me chill like I was actually in the rain in the dark ya know, all that jazz. It's really the most thematic in my opinion, I really feel every breath, every step, and every part of the journey I feel apart of. It's why it's my favourite. But it also has the worst sequence in POTC which is this entire act where they're on this island with a tribe. I don't know what it is, but it's just like 30minutes of the film that could've been spent on the boat. So ya know, less of that, more of Jack. You'll probably love Dead Mans Chest if you loved Black Pearl, and of course, it's worth bearing in mind, that if you decide to watch Dead Mans Chest, you're in for a cliff hanger. Unlike Black Pearl that felt like a complete story in its own self contained way, Dead Mans Chest is made to have a sequel, because money. Also because the story is long and it kinda makes sense but more for money. Have fun, guys.
