I found Big Hero 6 to be heartwarming and action-packed. This film is about a young boy (Hiro) and his lovable robot Baymax who, after a set of unexpected and devastating events, are thrown into danger in San Fransokyo. Hiro steps up to turn both Baymax and his friends into a bunch of high-tech heroes.
Not only is this movie full diversity but it also shows something that many children's films don't dear to do. This film shows mental illness in a way which is understandable to children. After Hiro's loss, we see him fall into some state of depression. This is shown clearly but without over complication for the younger audience. This allows children to see the effect of losing someone without confusion.
As I said before, this movie is extremely diverse, within the first half an hour you see many different skin colours, genders, and walks of life. I find this to be extremely important. Young children will take these characters as role models and to have someone they can relate to and feel connected to is important for them to have and experience. Many young children do what they see and for a young girl to see someone like Honeyleamon doing what she does in the movie is a great impression on that child. The characters in this film are lovable, funny, and unique. Each one has their own personality and rhythm.
Movies like Big Hero 6 do not come around often but I just cannot think of any movies that are like this one. The animation is beautiful. The scenery created really sets the mood of the scene, even before music and characters are added. The dialogue is light, funny but also deeply emotive. Overall, I would 100% recommend this film to anyone who is looking for something fun and unique.
