The film about is about a boy, Bruno who's Dad works in the concentration camps in Germany during WII. They move house at the start of the film which is in the countryside and has a concentration camp next to it. Whilst there, Bruno makes a friend called Schmul, who lives in the camp. Eventually they come best friends and Bruno starts to bring food due to the fact that they don't get much in the concentration camp. Despite their differences, Schmul it is not allowed any visitors and Bruno continues to visit as he gets bored at home. Bruno tries to save Schmul from the concentration camp but all does not go to plan.
This is a film about war, friendship & tragedy. The genre of this film is a drama. it was a classic book now it's been turned into a dramatic and devastating film. This is successful as it tells the story from the point of view of a child.
Personally I enjoyed this film because it's based on a true story and told in a believable way. At the same time, I found it very upsetting. I think children who have an understanding of the holocaust would be interested in watching it. I would also recommend it to adults as it gives them an idea of what it would have been been like to have been one of the children.
