The Lost Boys (1987)

When I heard this film was directed by Joel Schumacher my first thoughts were, "It's gonna be a terrible movie." This was mainly because of how Schumacher ruined the "Batman and Robin" film. However to my surprise (and it pains me to admit it) I actually enjoyed watching this vampire flick. Firstly, it wasn't like the soul-destroying Twilight films that always leave me with a burning hatred for them. This film in fact is more of a comedy that pokes fun at the traditional vampire films which usually involve scares and buckets of blood. There are also a lot of suffering involved in these films, which in my experience is like being forced to watch one of the Twilight movies in 3D. The story line didn't completely overwhelm me, but there were times where I was laughing out loud, recovering from a jump scare and when I was completely baffled by some of the characters. The best strength of this film was the use of make-up to create the terrifying vampire face on Jack Bauer aka Kiefer Sutherland. I feel that this film exceeded my expectations and it would be difficult to disappoint an audience of young people.
