“a horrendous attempt to make a book a film”
If you think this will be a typical Steven Spielberg classic you are totally wrong; it has NO classic Spielberg movie factors. When I watched this film I was expecting a to see the gruesome reality of war instead- It was an unrealistic attempt at war, unlike other Spielberg film’s such as Band Of Brothers
I felt the actors including Jeremy Irvine and Tom Huddleston, did a great job for filling awfully scripted roles, a great attempt to make a good film. I must give Jeremy Irvine a mention for doing such a good job in his first ever movie!
If you want to watch this film to find out some of the truths of ww1, you may as well stick to looking on you tube, as this film just tried to glamourize the horrible truth.
You make like this film, if you want to watch a heart-warming war film that doesn’t have any gruesome scenes. You will not like it in any way shape or form, if you are expecting a Spielberg thriller or a classic war film as it is neither of them it is more like a love story.
Albert obviously has a strong bond with his horse Joey, either that or Albert has Horse treats in his pocket, I’ll let you decide on that one.
Overall I felt this was a pathetic attempt at a war film, which would have been better unmade, I actually quite liked the novel, but the film just wasn’t my cup of tea.
