Viva La Revolution! If you want action-packed, violent scenes, with a futuristic setting, then this is the movie for you. This movie is full of dark, mysterious pulses, appealing to your inner dark side...
Be warned though, this movie has alot of swearing, with the S-word used up to 20 times! Made for those who have a strong stomach, as the blood effects are certainly realistic, to the point in which you are hanging onto your seat, thankful you are not the one on the recieving end.
This film focuses around a masked individual who we only know as V. The backstory of this mysterious and muddling character is shown throughout the film. As well as being set in a time where a facist state rules England, led by a stone-faced leader, who bears a likelyhood to Hitler in some respects. This story's state bears some resemblance to how the Nazis ran Germany: Propoganda (Strength through Unity, Unity through Faith), and how people who do not fit the 'normal' view are disposed of.
This dark shadow is being opposed by Hugo Weaving, who plays V. This supenhuman wants to take down the corrupt govenment, to show the world about the kind of grip that holds England. We never do find out the actual identity of V, and the most that is given to us is: 'Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask.' This mysterious persona of V pulls us in, chaining us to our seats as he blows up buildings, using home-made bombs.
This film has become so famous that it has its own 'cult' (If you can call it that, it's more like an organisation) called 'Anonymous'. Fueled by Vs need for secrecy, its members wear Guy Fawkes masks. But I Digress.
I leave you with the rhyme whcih the film begins, and ends with. A quote which is relevant, and easy to remember...
Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot...

This visually spectacular German sci-fi classic (made, incredibly, in 1927) sees the rich live in skyscrapers and the poor toil underground.
