I honestly don't know how to convince you enough to watch this film, it's pure magic put onto tape, and well worth going to see in the cinema! This film will definitely be the end of all assumptions that old films are boring- It's tense, shady and completely unpredictable/ unexpected. The majority of modern films that come out these days are animations and I feel that sometimes, drawings and models just can't get the same message across that human actors can. Oliver Twist is just perfect, it's tense in the right places and it relaxes you just when you start to think you're going to need a cushion to cuddle up-to to get through the film!
Oliver has never really had the best luck, but things just seem to be getting worse as he draws the short straw and has to forfit and go and ask the formidable Mr. Bumble for more gruel, which was only destined to result in him being put up for sale and being bought by a coffin maker. And from then on his life is turned downside-up and outside-in, he meets thieves, court judges and kind old men. So join his adventure as he is pulled between two different lives!
The only criticism I would even dream of making to this film would be that in some places this movie needed to be explained a bit better. I would recommend this film to age 6 and over, mostly because some scenes are more scary and threatening than others, and some scenes can only really be understood by older years.
So if you want thrill's, spill's, murderous villains, dogs (that should really be working with the police to catch criminals) and one REALLY exciting adventure then this is the film for you! Will Oliver achieve his dream and be brought up with a caring family, or will these crooks that are his "friends" take over his life and force him to do something he really doesn't want to do??? Watch to find out!
