My expectations were set quite high for marvel avengers assemble. I knew quite a lot about the impressive plot, there where many respected actors in it and the movies leading up to avengers assemble were of excellent standards. However, i found that was all i was going to look forward to. The script was all though at times fairly sophisticated, quite bland and corny. they gave all of the lead roles the witty lines which made everyone else look too serious. It had exceptional direction but sadly, not a great reference movie for Joss Whedon.
The acting was very varied, Chris Evans (Captin America) seemed to keep the same high standard of performance from his previous avenger film so did Robert Downey Jr. (iron man) But unfortunately, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) seemed instead of mighty god retrieving a stolen item, a posh stroppy school boy which is a shame, because he can do better. I was deeply impressed by Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Lorki, the slightly psychotic villain. He was a light in an admittedly dark room.
The special effects were although impressive, nothing special, it was like they took all of the effects out of the previous avenger films and dropped them all in this one. The action was more sleek and smooth than down and dirty, but they pulled it off very well and made for an entertaining watch.
I did enjoy the story line, having the difference in plot and them melding them all together is an idea pursued by many films but it definitely worked well, then you had the typical stolen item that needs to be retrieved plot which also worked.
It was very slow although so much happened, it was quite dull until the end few scenes which it then really picked up and became the amazing avengers film i was looking foward to in the first place.
