This revamp and modern day version of the classic Jane Austen novel depicts the story of how an uptight, snobbish American hotel manager falls in love with an interlectual and traditional Indian Godess. She grows rather fond of him too, but they both must overcome their own pride and prejustice in order to find true hapiness together. With an excelling cast and an intresting spin on an adored international bestseller, the Bride and the Prejustice delivers a unique insight on what true love is really all about and how you can’t tell a book by its cover. Apart from glamming up my Tuesday afternoon and literally getting me up off my feet , the lively musical performences made me enjoy the experience ten times better! If there was an album created and based on the excillerating songs performed in the film, then I think it would have scooped the producers twice as much as what they would had gained at the box office. I also thought the dance routines and subtitles used for the songs were intresting ways of interacting with the audience and getting them involved with the romantic and dynamic mood of the film. I also enjoyed the diverse change of scenery and the new dramatic and exotic locations explored in the course of the film. I personally thought this was an excellent choice as it intrigues the audience into wondering how their esteemed hero will cope in an alien world. My favourite character and the one which I thought was largely responsible for making this film the admirable masterpiece which it is was Mr Darcy. At first, I thought he was going to give another one of those atrocious wooden performances which so many of those largely unkown actors give but as the film progressed, he began to suprise me as his character blossoms and begins to draw in the attention (especially from all the lady veiwers). I wonder if Austen would have been pleased with Martin Henderson’s performance as Darcy. I also marvel if he was like the Gentleman and stuck up person which she imagined him to be. Although the plot was pretty predictable, especially with it being one of those soppy romantic sob stories which fantasizing loved up teenage girls crave, it presented a clear lesson which we should all take away something from.
