Firstly, I love foreign films, and was slightly worried before watching this film that i would be disapointed. But i was completely shocked. The dramatic twists in the story showed a journey of a negleted young boy, turned into a killer, and than amazingly transformed into a paternal figure. Sometimes the subtitles were a bit hard to follow but this was mainly because everyone was so far forward on their seats i couldn't see them! Parts of the film made you want to cry, but i was too involved in the tension and uncertainty of the film that i was kept glued to the screen for the whole session. I know quite alot of my club did not enjoy this film, but i thought it was amazing. It was abussive without being affensive, passionate without straying along the way and it kept me engaged and talking about it for some while after; something that rarely happens to me. I think that if this film was set it England it would be alot more difficult to watch, because alot of the things that happened (kidnapping, murder, and forceful aggresion) were done which such aggresion that it would be wierd seeing it. However it all seemed to slot into place in the film. The setting for the film was also amazing as it reflected the dark atmosphere surrounding the film. Through most of the film i felt like i was along side the charcters and living through thier strains with them. Thats a reflection on how good the acting was!! I would most definately recommend this film. It is quite simply AMAZING and UNFORGETTABLE!!
