The 2008 film based on the classic novel by Jules Verne certainly didn’t lack action. The story was full of surprises, twists and deadly obstacles. The main protagonist is Trevor Anderson a scientist and geography teacher. His brother, Max, disappeared a few years back and Trevor works in his old lab studying volcanic activities around the globe. Max believed that the book ‘Journey to the centre of the Earth’ was fact not fiction. Max’s son Sean comes to stay with Trevor. While there, Sean and Trevor discover new volcanic action in Iceland. They go to Iceland to see Max’s theory was true or just a dream. The film had all ingredients for a great film: sorrow, action and romance. Unfortunately the plot was rather predictable and one-dimensional. Despite that I would recommend the film to anyone looking for an action-fantasy film to watch with their family on a Saturday night.
