The Hound of the Baskervilles was a big breakthrough for 1939 because the hound was very lifelike. Sherlock Holmes played well and demonstrated the skill of logic. However the Watson in it was a bit overweight saying he had just come out of the war in Afghanistan. There was a feeling of suspense because you didn't know who was the antagonist and who was the protagonist. I thought the set was very well chosen because it made it look mysterious and strange. At some points I wished it was in colour but in the early 1900's they did not have colour as we lucky people have now. All round I thought this was a pretty good film and a good adaption from Arthur Conan Doyle's novel.
