This film Whale Rider really pulls on your heart strings. Directed by Niki Caro in 2002 and based on the tribes in New Zealand. This film has definitely made it into my top five favourite films. Also being a girl it's quite nice to have a hero who is a girl since most films have male heroes! Any way as well as there being a girl hero I also like this film because it wasn't an action packed fast film instead it was a exciting medium paced film. One more thing that made it a good film was that the actors really got into their characters. They got into their characters so much that it made it seem like that was actually their life! But personally I think the best actor was the actress who played Pikea as she comes from and lives in England so that makes her work harder as she has to put on a New Zealand accent. I must add that she had to audition for the place of Pikea and she was the one who got the role out of the thousands of people who auditioned. I know that I'm making this film come across as if it's an up beat happy film well it's not all the time there a a couple of scenes in which a very emotional and almost has you crying. But overall I really enjoyed watching this film and I truly recommend it! So over all i've decided to give it FIVE stars as my rating! :)
