Synopsis

A powerful and uplifting film based on a true story. Dominique Bauby, a French writer and magazine editor, suffers a stroke at the age of 43, becoming almost totally paralysed as a result. The only part of his body that he can still move is a single eyelid, which he determinedly uses as his sole form of communication - by blinking at specific cue cards to form messages. Using this slow and arduous method, Bauby begins to dictate a book about his experience with locked-in syndrome - and as he does, he finds his powers of imagination and description even stronger now than they were before.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "

- Mark Ellis, Teacher, ChristChurch C of E Primary School, London
