Synopsis

Glenn Holland is an ambitious young composer in the 1960s. Convinced he will eventually write a piece of music that will make him famous, he takes on a teaching job to tide him over. But that job eventually becomes his life's work as he convinces successive generations of pupils of the joys of music, at the same time struggling to come to terms with the fact that his own son is deaf. Richard Dreyfuss stars as Holland in this sentimental, heartwarming tale.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
