Following the tragic drowning of their daughter, John and Laura Baxter leave England and head to Venice, where John throws himself into a church restoration project. But an eerie atmosphere fills the labyrinthine alleys of the city, and soon John begins to obsess over a figure he sees resembling his dead child. Nothing is what it seems in a film that's as confusing as it is compelling, right up until the shocking finale. One of the greatest psychological horror movies of all time, it's definitely a case of once seen, never forgotten.
